'Wichcraft- Tom Collicio (of Top Chef fame) owns a restaurant in Bryant Park. It's a series of four pagodas that does soup, salads, sandwiches (hence the name) and ice-cream. The food was amazing (I had a goat cheese, avocado, celery and watercress sandwich) and it was great to sit outside in the park and eat. Bryant Park may be my favorite place in the city that I've found so far.
The East Village- I love downtown New York. It's so beautiful and interesting. I loved going into interesting stores and people watching. I got a new bag from an Asian Store.
Union Square- The best part of my day was going to Union Square because they were having a big "Taiwan Days/Earthquake relief day. Kara and I found Bing! I'm sure the previous statement was meaningless to you, so to explain- Bing is Tiwanese ice-cream. They shave ice and put sweetened condensed milk, syrup and other stuff like nuts and/or chocolate chips. Kara and I were so exited- we haven't had bing in 15 years! The people serving it were so nice when they found out that that we lived in Taiwan.
Lion King- It was so amazing. I've never see a play so visually amazing before. The costumes and sets. So amazing. There is something so amazing about seeing a play because everything is happening right before you. No camera tricks, no second chances, just human talent. All the actors were amazing, and I loved how everything was done in a way that pointed to traditional African art. The dancing, costumes, backdrops- sometimes it seemed to be more of something Alvin Ailey would do than a Broadway show. It was definitely the most artistic play I've ever seen.
Lindy's Cheesecake- We didn't have time to go in and sit down, but I did get to go and have by picture taken in front of the sign. Depending on when my bus is leaving I'll try to make it there on Tuesday.

Yeah for time in the city! That is one thing I am looking forward to showing to our kids someday when visiting the States. I want to go for the Macy's Parade, theatre, parks, all the food, you know-all the great stuff! And yeah for you getting bing! Can't say I personally know it, but I certainly embrace you being able to be Taiwanese again for the afternoon!
In short-yeah for good culture!
