Happy November!

This is my second November in DC, and I still love it so much. Right now what I'm loving the most is that it's November and I just have to throw on a sweatshirt to go outside. Take that Canada!

For her birthday, Kendra wanted to go to "Let's Dish". You go to this store and they have different meals set up for you to make, that are designed to be put in your freezer and heated up later in the month. I now have Apricot-crusted salmon, cranberry chutney chicken, burbon sirloin steaks, and chicken and wild rice chowder waiting in my freezer for Luke to heat up. It was actually a lot of fun to do. My friend Allison and I split the smallest package to make it a little more affordable (it's pretty equivalent to a grocery bill though). I have a feeling Kendra and I are going to have to make this a monthly tradition.

It's kind of pathetic that the only way to get home-cooked meals is to go to a strip-mall where they lay everything out and you can do it all in 2 hours. I guess that's the city for you. Honestly though, I just have no time to cook anything, so we have been going out to eat way to much and I'm getting sick of it. I'm sick of the money we spend and I'm sick of unwrapping my food. Sometimes I miss my old scedule from Calgary where I could spend 45 min every day cooking. It was fun. Not really an option for someone who is out of the house for 13 hours a day though.

Other happenings- I'm starting to teach more at school. I'm liking the little kids a lot, and I'm really not liking the older kids. I think that running a band program would cause me to stab myself in the eye. I'm going to concentrate on elementary general music. It's way fun- you get to play games all day long. The tough part is that you have to change the activity up every 15 min or so because small children have the attention span of small cats. Sometimes I feel like I'm a clown standing up there trying to keep their focus. When all else fails have the march around the room in a circle.

Luke has been working crazy hours this week because the president is going to have lunch with the french president at Mt. Vernon. Luke has had to re-sod a perfectly good lawn so the pictures turn out perfect. I didn't know that I could be more annoyed with Bush.....but I can.

We are looking for yet another apartment- again. This one was always meant to be temporary, it's to small and dosn't have an exaust fan in the bathroom, making everything damp. We might more back into the city, closer to my work, or into different neighborhoods. I dread moving again though. I want to take my time and find a place that will be a long term solution until we can buy a condo or something. We might also wait until Luke finds a job. I love my city, but sometimes I wish I could have it as easy as the country people.
